Medical Transcription Reference Books

by Angie on June 10, 2010

The best reference books that I have used during my medical transcription career so far are all of the different specialty Stedman’s books.  I have typed for many different specialties and have found a Stedman’s book for each of them so far.

The book I use for drugs is the American Drug Index.  A new book comes out every year.  Even though they are a little costly, I try to get the updated book each year so I have the added drugs.  I have checked on Amazon and sometimes they have a deal on their site where I get it for less.  When purchasing books, check around for the best prices.

Obviously, this information can be found on the Internet versus the books that you buy for reference books.  I do have some sites on the Internet that I go to regularly for some things, but some of the reference material I like to have right at my fingertips.

Later, I will write about some of my favorite reference Web sites and other reference material.

If you have other suggestions for reference books, be sure to share them with us.
